With the growth of technology, premium smartphones from many Android makers can be found across the market. People are now upgrading their phones and moving from iOS to Android. There are many benefits to trying out one of the new premium Android smartphones, but switching phones deletes all your data and contacts.
However, by adopting some simple methods, such things can be avoided. If you’re switching from an Apple iPhone to an Android phone, or keeping both, transferring contacts can come across as a daunting task but you need not worry. There are a few easy ways and to do this one has to follow this step-by-step process. It is important to note here that for this you will need a cloud storage account and a cloud sync account.
Sharing contacts from iPhone or Android (Google Account):
To activate it, you’ll first need to connect your Gmail account on your iPhone.
1: On your iPhone, open the Settings tab. Select ‘Mail’ from the menu.
2: Select the Gmail account that you want to link to the accounts on your Android phone.
3: On the new page, make sure the Contacts slider is turned on.
4: Sign in with the same Gmail account on your Android phone. All the contacts from the Gmail account will be transferred automatically.
Transfer Contacts from iPhone or Android (vCard):
VCFs (vCard) store standard contact details which can be read by any phone.
1: On your iPhone, go to the Settings app and then select your name.
2: Select iCloud from the drop-down menu. Make sure the contact is selected from the list of apps.
3: After that, go to icloud.com and sign in to your iCloud account.
4: After logging in, click on the three dots in the top right corner of Chrome and go to the desktop site.
5: On the new desktop version of iCloud, go to ‘Contacts’ and then tap on the little gear icon in the lower-left corner.
6: A menu will appear. Press Select All and then click on vCard Export.
7: The VCF file will be downloaded in the Files app of your phone. It is possible that Google will store it on Files by Google or My Files.
8: You will be asked if you want to import contacts? Here you have to do OK.
To share contacts from iPhone to Android (Google Drive):
To use this method, first sync your contacts to Drive and then transfer them to your mobile.
1: On your iPhone, first download the Google Drive app. Log in with the Google Account you want to use on your Android device.
2: In the top-left corner, click the three rows. Select Settings from the menu.
3: After that, choose Backup. If you don’t see this option, your company has limited the information you can share with Google.
4: Tap Contacts on the page and make sure the option is turned on. Return to the previous screen and select ‘Start Backup’. This process may take some time depending on the contacts you have. You can also choose to back up your calendar events and photos.
5: Once the backup is complete, sign in to your Android phone using the same Google Account. All your contacts will be transferred.
