The operating systems of Oppo and OnePlus are going to be merged. Know how this will affect the smartphone users of these two companies.
OnePlus and Oppo Merge
A few days ago the news of the merger of Oppo and OnePlus came and now in this episode, the smartphone brand OnePlus has announced the integration of its OxygenOS with the Oppo ColorOS operating system. These two companies are doing this because both the companies are starting to integrate their business. OnePlus made OxygenOS six years ago. Since then, OxygenOS has proved to be one of the best Android operating systems available in the global market.
“After much evaluation and discussion, we have come up with a solid plan to make the most of our shared resources with OPPO,” the company said in a statement. It said, “To improve efficiency and standardize the software experience across our portfolio, we are working on integrating the codebases of OxygenOS and ColorOS.”
OxygenOS OS remains for global users, but now it is built on a more stable and stronger platform. “This will be applicable to new devices in the future, while for existing devices that are still within the maintenance schedule, it will be via an OTA update with Android 12,” the company said.
A new leaked memo recently revealed that OnePlus will be a sub-brand of Oppo. OnePlus said it now has a larger and more capable team of developers, more advanced R&D resources, and a more streamlined development process all coming together to improve the OxygenOS experience.
In an official note, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau said that the integration will allow them to be more efficient, bringing faster and more stable software updates to OnePlus users. He explained that he took on some additional responsibilities last year to oversee the product strategy for both OnePlus and Oppo.
Lau previously said, “I believe this change will be positive for our community and our users. With this deep integration with Oppo, we will have more resources to build even better products for you.”
He added that the OnePlus brand will continue to operate independently, focusing on providing the best possible products and experiences as they have always done.
