Kaspersky has warned users that if they are downloading Windows from a source that is not Microsoft’s, they may have received malware along with the OS.

If you are planning to download Windows 11, then stop for a while, doing so can prove very dangerous. It can fill your device with malware. Malware is software that is intentionally introduced into a computer with the explicit intention of causing complete or partial harm. Overall if you are downloading or have downloaded Windows 11, then check the source from where you have done so.
If there is a problem with the source, then you can be in trouble and there may be a problem with your security as malware can cause a lot of damage by altering the software of your computer. Cisco has listed such malware and they include viruses, worms, Trojan viruses, spyware, adware and ransomware. In its latest report on Microsoft Windows 11, Kaspersky warns users that if they are downloading Windows from a source that is not Microsoft’s, they may have received malware along with the OS.
This is also happening because Windows 11 is yet to be released officially. Currently, the prerelease build is officially available for download and preview.
How are malware delivered during a Windows 11 download?
Considering that Windows 11 is quite a fancy new operating system, a large number of people rush to download the OS, people have not bothered to check whether the source is genuine before downloading it from the net. The Windows 11 download is available from the Microsoft website, but cybercriminals manage to entice unsuspecting users with their promise to provide some extra goodies, but it’s actually a trap. As soon as a user accepts the agreement, malware is downloaded to his computer.
Where to download Microsoft Windows 11?
You can download Windows 11 effectively without exposing your computer to malware, but only if you do so from official sources. Also, note that Windows 11 is officially available only to Windows Insider Program participants and you will need to register for it.
To upgrade Windows, go to Settings, click Update & Security, and then select Windows Insider Program before activating the Dev Channel.
