Instagram constantly keeps on giving new features to the users. But this time the company has brought some special features for the young users, after which every youth will be safe. At present, this feature is not included in the app but the company has started rolling it out in different countries.
This feature of Instagram is a privacy feature
It has always been the endeavor of Instagram to make the social media platform safe for young users. The Facebook authorized app has announced that the accounts of users who are under the age of 16 will no longer be public. The account of these users will become private by default. Instagram will send a notification to these users asking them to shift from a public account to a private account. If we talk about the terms and conditions of Insta, the age of users should be more than 13 years to login to Facebook and Insta.
Instagram said in a blog post that it does not want young people to interact with adults they do not know. And the only way to curb this is to make the accounts of the youth private. Announcing the feature, Instagram wrote, “Starting this week, everyone who is under 13 (or under 18 in some countries) joining Instagram will automatically have their account set to private.” will go.
Private accounts let people control who sees or replies to their content. If you have a private account, people will need to follow you to see your posts, stories and reels. People can’t comment on your content in those places, and they won’t be able to see your content in places like Explore or Hashtags at all.”
The Facebook-owned company shared that, in one study, it was found that young people chose a private account over a public account when signing up for Instagram, but they appreciated the private experience afterward. The new settings will apply to new Instagram users. For young people who already have a public account on Instagram, the app will give a notification highlighting the benefits of a private account and how to change their privacy settings.
The company said that Instagram has also developed a new technology that will help the app detect adult accounts that are potentially exhibiting suspicious behavior and allow those accounts to interact with young people. will stop. By “potentially suspicious behavior” we mean accounts belonging to adults that may have been recently blocked or reported by a young person.
Instagram will stop showing accounts of young users in Explore, Reels or Accounts recommended to suspected adults. They also won’t get the option to follow the youth on the app, even if they enter the user’s name and find the account. Instagram is rolling out changes to the US, Australia, France, UK and Japan to begin with and will soon expand to more countries.
