Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, a lot of frauds are happening, including phone numbers falling into the wrong hands. Your phone number is one of the easiest ways for scammers to use it to extract sensitive data and use it in many other malicious ways.
Knowingly or unintentionally, your number may be transmitted, causing you to receive unnecessary calls and messages on the phone. Sometimes, it affects your mental health as well and hence, it becomes very important for you to protect yourself from such issues. To protect your privacy, you need to hide your caller ID and for this you have to block your phone number from which you do not want to pick up calls or do not want to let your contacts reach.
There are many ways through which you can block your number on iPhone or Android device….
Use *67 before the number
To protect your privacy, you can dial *67 before the number you want to call. If you want to hide your Called ID from someone saved in your Contacts then first of all, you have to make a note of their number or copy it to clipboard and then type *67 at the beginning of the number . For example, your phone number would look like *67-555-555-5555 instead of 555-555-5555.
After following this, no caller ID will appear on the receiver’s device. It doesn’t cost anything. Also, you will be asked to dial *67 before any blocked phone calls you wish to make.
Change this in the settings on the phone
You can change the setting on your device to protect your privacy and hide your caller ID for every call you make. You can hide your caller ID, allowing you to appear as No Caller ID, Private, or block everyone you call on both Android and iOS devices.
If you want to temporarily unblock your number, dial *82 before the number you want to call.
block your caller id directly
If you fail to find an option to protect your privacy in your phone’s settings, you are prompted to block it directly from your mobile phone instead. Most network carriers don’t allow you to block your number in device settings, but then let you do so through their own app instead.
