There are many apps on Google Play Store which are malicious. Google periodically removes these malicious apps from the Play Store. Once again 17 such malicious apps have been removed from the Google Play Store. These apps were infected with malware. These malware apps were detected by Zscaler ThreatLabZ researchers. Such apps are constantly monitored, yet it somehow finds a way to remain on the Google Play store. Giving information in a blog post, Zscaler Security Researcher Viral Gandhi said that this malware can be used for SMS, contacts, device information and signup of a premium wireless application protocol (WAP).

Downloaded 1,20,000 times
The 17 malicious apps that Google has removed from the Play Store have been downloaded about 1,20,000 times. Most of these are scanner apps. Apart from this, they also include messaging apps and photo editor apps. When the tech giant informed Google about these malicious apps, Google removed them from the Play Store. Now no one will be able to download these apps from Google Play Store.
