According to Counterpoint Research’s ‘Global Monthly Handset Model Sales Tracker’ report, sales of 5G enabled smartphones reached 51 percent globally in January 2022, surpassing 4G smartphone sales for the first time. As we mentioned, 84 percent of the smartphones sold in China were 5G. At the same time, Apple leads North America and Western Europe with 50 percent and 30 percent stake. The contribution of the iPhone 13 is considered important in this, which was launched last year. This has allowed people to naturally shift to 5G.
According to Counterpoint, these regions of the world will continue to play an important role in the growth of 5G smartphone sales globally.
In its report, Counterpoint credits firms such as Qualcomm and MediaTek for creating affordable chipsets. It is said that due to this there has been an increase in the sales of 5G smartphones. Due to the reduction in the prices of Android 5G smartphones, their sales have also increased.
The report says that now the 5G mobile network is expected to expand to Asia Pacific, Middle East and Latin America. Here it has been said in the report to bring the 5G smartphone to the price segment of $ 150 (about Rs 11,300). At present, this segment is dominated by 4G smartphones. Counterpoint also expects that once the price of low-end 5G processors comes down to $20 (about Rs 1,500), 5G smartphones will appear in the market even in the budget segment.
