A Facebook spokesperson has said that the company has fixed the bug that leaked the data of 53 million users, but this data is still available online.
Facebook has a large user base and people of all age groups use this social media platform. But often people misuse your personal information or photos for malicious or illicit purposes. In such a situation, you can keep yourself safe on Facebook by trying these five methods.
The phone numbers and personal data of 53 crore users of Facebook have been leaked online. Now the company has issued a statement regarding this leak, in which Facebook has said that this data leak is old and it was fixed only in 2019.
A Facebook spokesperson said, “This data is out of date, which was revealed in 2019. After getting the information, we fixed this issue in August 2019 itself. ”
While Facebook is claiming to fix this issue, the truth is that this data still exists in the public domain. The leaked data includes birth date, location, phone number, email ID and other personal information. According to this latest data leak, the data of these 53 crore users is from 106 countries and out of this, there is data of 6 million Indian users.
The data of all these users is available online for free and anyone can use it. Hackers can use it to cheat users. Apart from this, this information cannot be changed like a password, so as to avoid being a victim of online fraud.
All 533,000,000 Facebook records were just leaked for free.
This means that if you have a Facebook account, it is extremely likely the phone number used for the account was leaked.
I have yet to see Facebook acknowledging this absolute negligence of your data. https://t.co/ysGCPZm5U3 pic.twitter.com/nM0Fu4GDY8

Allan Gal, the co-founder of the Israeli cybercrime intelligence firm Hudson Rock, found out about the leak. He said that it appears to be the same Facebook linked phone number data which has been circulating among hackers since January.
Gal said that this data was advertised by a telegram bot to make money. This means that this data has been available online since January and it may have been misused as well.
