There is bad news for the customers waiting for Samsung’s Galaxy Note series. The company said that it will not launch the Galaxy Note series this year. It was said by the company that it will bring the foldable device in the future. The Galaxy Note series was first introduced at IFA Berlin and later hit the market in October 2011.
The stellar Galaxy Note series devices have garnered a strong customer base globally including in India due to the S (stylus) pen, bigger and better screen and different productivity. Instead of launching a new Galaxy Note this time around, we will be expanding the features further to more Samsung Galaxy devices, as the company plans to launch foldable Galaxy Z devices next month, said Dr TM Roh, President and Head of Mobile Communications Business, Samsung Electronics. Getting ready to enter the next generation.
TM Roh told IANS, “The gap with the stylus is so strong that no smartphone player has been able to bring in an effective stylus like Samsung in the past decade, even though some OEMs have tried that path.” Now Samsung is trying to replicate the same with the foldable category, where the second generation of devices already grow.
Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra made a strong hold
Launched last year, the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra redefined productivity in the work-from-home era amid the pandemic. However, according to Counterpoint Research, the foldable smartphone shipment share will remain low for the foreseeable future, as the industry experiments with different form factors, designs, content and operating system variants.
The growth in the foldable smartphone market
Though the foldable market has grown significantly in the last one year, it was from a small base and is expected to remain niche over the medium term. Roh said that the current market situation, including the lack of semiconductor supply chains and consumer smartphone buying behavior during the pandemic, makes it difficult to maintain two distinct product platforms.
A notable part of its flagship premium portfolio which has become a buzzword every year, the popular Galaxy Note series will not make its presence felt in 2021. The company said on Tuesday that it is betting big on the future of foldable devices.
