It has decided to work closely with multilingual micro-blogging platform Koo App to strengthen its content moderation policies and provide online security to its users. The company says that this agreement will work towards protecting users from online abuse, bullying and threats and will create a transparent and friendly ecosystem.
Koo App will share data to build funds
Through this agreement, CIIL will create a corpus of expressions including words, phrases, abbreviations and acronyms, which are considered offensive or sensitive, in the 22 languages of the Eighth Schedule to the Constitution of India. Whereas Koo App will share relevant data to create the fund and provide technical support for creating the interface that will host the fund for public access. This is a long-term agreement to develop responsible use of Indian languages on social media and will be valid for two years by providing users a secure and comprehensive networking experience in all languages.

CIIL and Koo expect better results
Welcoming this agreement, CIIL Director Prof. Shailendra Mohan said that enabling users of Indian languages to communicate on the Koo platform is truly an expression of the right to equality and freedom of speech, which are our very respected constitutional values. The MoU between CIIL and Koo h is an effort towards ensuring that the use of social media, especially the Koo App, comes with hygienic speech and writing and is free from inappropriate language and abuse.
