Another lawsuit has been filed against Twitter amidst the ruckus over the non-acceptance of new IT rules. The case has been filed by the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR). According to the information received, the NCPCR has filed this lawsuit for violating the POCSO Act and for giving incorrect information. The NCPCR has said that unless Twitter is completely safe for children, children should not have access to it.

Along with this, the NCPCR has written a letter to the IT ministry requesting it to restrict children’s access to Twitter within seven days. It states that until this social media platform is completely safe for children and does not start following the IT rules of India, it should be kept closed for children.
Let us tell you that the new IT rules have been implemented from May 25 this year and all social media companies will have to follow it. Under this, all companies have to appoint a Chief Grievance Officer, Chief Compliance Officer and Chief Nodal Officer so that any untoward incident can be avoided.
In the new social media guidelines, a time period of 15 days has also been prescribed for the chief complaint officers to resolve the complaints made by the users. All social media companies have started following the new IT rules, but Twitter has not yet accepted it and has asked for another three months for this.
