Some thugs made a woman a victim of fraud by creating a fake website of BBC and cheated her of 9 lakh rupees.
Cryptocurrency bitcoin
Bitcoin has become a big thing after Elon Musk’s support for cryptocurrency. The value of digital currency such as docCoin and bitcoin increases and decreases according to Elon Musk’s tweets. But some online scammers are cheating people by misusing Musk’s tweet. One such incident happened to a British woman where some thugs made her a victim of fraud and cheated her for around 9000 pounds (about Rs 9,00,000).
According to the BBC report, a woman named Julie Bushnell became a victim of bitcoin fraud and her entire shaving went missing. Julie said that she saw a story on the fake website of the BBC claiming that Elon Musk would pay double the bitcoin deposit. The thugs used the brand of BBC News to fool the woman. There was a story on the website that said, “Tesla has bought $ 1.5 billion worth of bitcoins and has decided to pay $ 750 million out of it.”
The woman had put the money to buy the house
Julie, who works as a teacher in Brighton, gave £ 9000 to people who cheated online in hopes of doubling the money that she had set up to buy a new home. After depositing the money, she waited for the money to come back, but when she did not receive the money, she realized that she had become a victim of fraud.
Julie told the BBC that she is an investor in cryptocurrency and is embarrassed that she got caught in this bitcoin fraud. After the money is gone, Julie wants to spread awareness so that other people don’t get caught in it. The fake BBC website that defrauded Julie is still running. The BBC said that it has taken action to close this website. The BBC said, “We urge people to check the veracity of websites and not to give away any personal information.”
