Google CEO Sundar Pichai has said that he is continuously working on making affordable smartphones with Jio. Talking with Reporters of Asia Pacific, he said, “We are focusing on making affordable phones. We are committed to making progress on this project and we are working with Jio. ” However, he did not give further information about this smartphone when it will be launched and what will be its price.
Google acquired a 7.7 percent stake in the Jio platform last year, valued at Rs 33,737 crore. Along with this, the company has also signed a commercial agreement with Jio under which both companies will make entry-level affordable smartphones.
Google’s investment in Jio platform is part of the ‘Google for India Digitization Fund’, which was announced last year. In July last year, Pichai announced 75000 crore rupees in India over the next 5 to 7 years.
It was announced to invest Rs (10 billion US dollars), with the help of which digital technology will be promoted.
Apart from these things, Pichai also said that the company is exploring opportunities to invest even more from its 10 billion India Digitization Fund and will make some announcements by the end of this year.
Talking about the effects caused by COVID-19 on these projects, Pichai said that the epidemic has brought about the importance of technology in people’s lives. We have come to know what is the importance of technology in our life. Whether it is a matter of Google Meet or to work on its network and for customers to have affordable access to computers and smartphones. It shows our efforts.
