Vodafone Idea i.e. Vi rolled out one of its most attractive prepaid plan benefits earlier this year. It offers double data benefits with its 2GB daily data plan. This means that users opting for these plans get 4GB daily data along with unlimited calls and SMS. The plans offer access to additional benefits like unlimited night data and rollover data during the week.

These plans prove to be better for users looking for extra data for working from home or for gaming and streaming. The double data benefit prepaid plans are priced at Rs 299, Rs 499 and Rs 699. Here, there is some bad news for users who always opt for this plan as Vi is discontinuing the double data benefit in some circles. This means that instead of 4GB daily data, the telecom company will now offer 2GB daily data to users at the same price only.

As of now, Vodafone Idea has stopped offering double data benefit in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana circles. The development was first noted by Only Tech. Vi’s website also does not show double data benefit for these circles. It is not clear whether Vi will block the double data benefit in other circles where it is still active.

Earlier this year, Vi also bundled these plans with Zee5 premium steaming benefits. There was a recent change with TRAI with the tariff of Vi, indicating that the company had offered 4GB data per day with access to Zee5 Premium in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana circles in August 2021. Apart from this, all the telcos are moving towards increasing the tariff to increase the User Average Revenue (ARPU).

Vodafone Idea Ltd., which is currently struggling due to its AGR dues, saw ARPU decline by 3 per cent sequentially to Rs 104 in the June quarter. An increase of Rs 30 in VIL’s ARPU can lead to Rs 9,000 crore in extra revenue. The analyst has noted that the government’s relief package needs a multi-dimensional approach focused mainly on loan reduction. He has also pointed out that the company will have to support this with a strong tariff hike which can increase VIL’s ARPU by at least Rs 30 from the current levels.
