When Glassdoor started this list in 2013, Mark Zuckerberg was at the top of this list with a 99 percent approval score. Zuckerberg’s employee approvals have declined in late 2020 and early 2021.
Mark Zuckerberg
This is the first time since 2013 that Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has been left out of Glassdor’s list of Top 100 CEOs. The job search site on Wednesday released its annual CEO ranking list based on employee approval ratings. In the Glassdoor survey of Facebook workers, from May 2020 to May 2021, Mark Zuckerberg’s approval declined by 94 percent in 2019 and 89 percent in 2021.
According to a Bloomberg report, Glassdoor surveyed 700 Facebook workers. This is a small part of Facebook’s 60,000 employees, but Glassdoor is considered an important recruitment tool and CEO approval is prominently displayed on the company’s page.
This is the reason behind Mark Zuckerberg
When Glassdoor started this list in 2013, Mark Zuckerberg was at the top of this list with a 99 percent approval score. Zuckerberg’s employee approvals declined in late 2020 and early 2021. Bloomberg wrote that this happened while Facebook was grappling with misinformation about the results of the US presidential election and COVID-19.
Zuckerberg’s approval rating was still well above the average CEO approval rating of 73%. This average CEO approval rating number has been included by Glassdoor in a press release announcing the 2021 list.
Employees get three options to rate CEO
Talking about the top rated CEOs of 2021, Rich Lesser, CEO of Boston Consulting Group, is at the top with an approval rating of 99 percent. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella is ranked sixth with an approval rating of 97 percent and Apple CEO Tim Cook is ranked 32nd with a rating of 95 percent.
According to the award criteria, Glassdoor gives all employees three simple options to rate their CEO. Approval, Disapproval or No Opinion and on the basis of this a list is prepared. Glassdoor did not publish the list of top CEOs last year due to COVID-19.
