Prahar President Abhay Mishra, in a letter to the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeiTY), informed that Krafton is the only paper maker in India as per the documents of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA). It has nothing to do with the South Korean company Krafton, which is the developer of BGMI. In the letter, Mishra said that Krafton appointed Hyunil Sohn as the company’s representative, assuming that it represents the Chinese company Tencent in India. This is the same person who is the representative of PUBG India.
Mishra said that in a resolution dated 26 November 2021 at the Krafton Inc.’s Council of Directors meeting, Hyunil Sohn was given Krafton’s representation for Battlegrounds Mobile India. On the same day, i.e. 26 November 2021, PUBG India Pvt. Limited, in a board resolution, the same Hyunil Sohn was given the representation of PUBG India for Battlegrounds Mobile India.
He questioned that if PUBG and BGMI are different then Krafton India, the publisher of BGMI, of PUBG India Pvt. How did I give my representation to Hyunil Sohan of Ltd.? In information sent to Gadgets 360, he claimed that he, in fact, represents the Chinese company Tencent in India.
The NGO says that this is misleading to the government and the BGMI / PUBG app should be banned. Gadgets 360 has reached out to Crafton in this regard. As soon as there is a response from the company, it will be updated here.
About two months ago, the Indian government had banned 54 such apps which were linked to China in some way or the other and could become a threat to the security of the country. These included Garena Free Fire, Tencent’s Xriver and NetEase’s Onmyoji Arena. Since May 2020, the government has banned 300 Chinese apps.
