Bharti Airtel has discontinued its cheapest plan i.e. Rs 49 plan. Instead, the company has now come up with a plan of Rs 79, after which customers will now have to spend 60 percent more money.
Its impact will be visible on you in the coming months
There are two types of smartphone users, one prepaid and the other postpaid. Both the plans have their own advantages. Some take a prepaid plan because they find that plan cheaper, while some take a postpaid plan because there are many benefits available in the plan. But now trouble is going to come for both these users. Yes, the bill of smartphone users can increase by 30 percent in the next 6 months.
While Airtel has made the plans of its prepaid users expensive, other telecom companies are also taking similar steps now. Airtel has made its entry plan 60 percent expensive, that is, the plan which comes earlier for Rs 49 has now been reduced to Rs 79. Apart from this, Vodafone Idea has also increased the price of its plans in some circles.
In such a situation, as the plans are getting expensive, there is a way to implement them as well. Vodafone Idea has increased the price of its plans because the company is already going into losses. The telecom industry has more than 90% prepaid users in its subscriber base.
Let us tell you that Vodafone Idea has also cut data benefits for its corporate customers under the Business Plus postpaid plan. Both the companies are emphasizing on increasing users especially on Vodafone Idea tariff and average revenue. If analysts are to be believed, then currently the largest telecom company Jio is engaged in adding users rapidly at the cost of ARPU growth.
On the other hand, if we talk about Vodafone Idea, then the condition of the company is bad at present. The company has to pay Rs 22,000 crore by 2022. For this the company needs cash and this is the reason why the company is now increasing the tariff immediately. Rohan Makhija, partner and India and Middle East head at Analysis Maison, said the tariffs are likely to go up by 30 to 35 percent.
