It has been told in the report that hackers posted data of one million users on Hacker Forum on June 22 and according to the report of Privacy Shark, it includes data like phone numbers, addresses, geolocation etc. of LinkedIn users.
If you are a LinkedIn user then bad news for you because hackers are selling data of 700 million users of LinkedIn online. This means that the data of 92 percent of LinkedIn’s users has been leaked because this professional networking site has 756 million users. According to a report by Privacy Shark, this data includes phone numbers, physical addresses, geolocation data and salary data of LinkedIn users.
It has been told in this report that hackers have posted the data of one million users on the hacker forum on 22 June. Although we do not confirm this news. But while issuing a statement on this, LinkedIn made a post on its website in which the company gave complete information about this matter.
LinkedIn wrote on its website that “Our teams have investigated a set of alleged LinkedIn data that has been posted for sale. We would like to clarify that this is not a data breach and no personal information of any LinkedIn member has been exposed. Our preliminary investigation has found that this data was scraped by LinkedIn and other websites and includes data from our April 2021 scraping update reported earlier this year.”
The company further stated that, “Members rely on LinkedIn with their data and any misuse of our members’ data, such as scraping, violates the LinkedIn Terms of Service. When a member tries to collect data and use it for a purpose that LinkedIn and our members do not agree, we work to prevent and hold them accountable.”
Let us tell you that earlier in April, a case of data leak of LinkedIn came to the fore, in which data of 500 million users was said to be leaked. A scrapped archive of data allegedly from over 500 million LinkedIn profiles has been put up for sale on a popular hacker forum. Not only this, the people behind the hack have also presented the leaked 20 lakh records as a sample.
Although LinkedIn posted a blog on this, it was said that the sales information is a collection of data from many websites and companies. With this, the company further said that this incident was not a data breach and did not involve data of any private member. According to the company, it was only scrapped for sale some LinkedIn data including public member profiles.
