Cyber threats to Indian users are increasing, this is confirmed by a recent report. According to a report by digital security and privacy provider Avast, nearly a third (28.22 percent) of home PC (personal computer) users in India are at the greatest risk of cyber attacks. Avast’s latest Global PC Risk Report also takes into account the potential for users to face major threats.
Defined as more refined or never-seen-before threats, security software is designed to bypass common security technologies such as signatures, guesses, emitters, URL filtering and email scanning. For such threats, the risk ratio of Indian domestic users is 5.78 percent, which is higher than the global ratio.
29.39 percent chance of PC malware
Home users around the world have a 29.39 percent chance of encountering any type of PC malware, an increase of about 5 percent over the previous year. Not long ago, physical areas with more conflicting socio-political situations, such as Asia, Africa and Eastern Europe, are also facing greater risk in the online world.

Michal Salat, Director of Threat Intelligence at Avast, said in a statement, “The risk ratio for all malware attacks has increased worldwide and we can see that India is no exception. In the pandemic, the internet has been a life saver for many, empowering them to stay connected with those close to them.
Cyber criminals are taking advantage of increasing use of internet
Michal Salat said, Cybercriminals have focused on taking full advantage of this and hence we have seen various types of campaigns taking advantage of the growth in online activities such as COVID-19 related attacks, sextortion campaigns, spyware and ransomware .
The data included in this report is collected from the Avast Threat Detection Network and represents a data snapshot that Avast created between March 16 and April 14, 2021 with threats to the security of its PC users .
