google play store
Google has announced new guidelines for Android apps on Playstore. The main objective of the new policy is to identify apps that provide misleading information on the PlayStore. The main objective of this upcoming policy is to collect information related to the app which includes the name of the app, icon and the name of the developer etc. According to the company, this is the most important guideline for the apps on PlayStore.
Talking about app titles, Google will not allow those apps to be used in which things like “# 1 on Play Store” or “top app” will be used. Apart from this, if an app will use promotional text like “free” or “sale”, then this app will not be used in that.
Apart from this, the use of any kind of misleading elements in the title of the apps on the Playstore is also prohibited such that users cannot use the word “download now” in the title. Apart from this, caps, special characters or emoji also cannot be used in the title. However, if the name of an app is like this, then it can be given permission like PUBG. Along with this, Google has also limited the length of the app title to 30 characters.
Preview elements will also be monitored
There are many such apps on the PlayStore, which have preview previews, but their job is to provide the correct information of the app. These preview assets include screenshots, trailers and other information that is given by the app on the app page. According to the new guidelines, Google can take action on those apps which will not give the correct information.
If an app used promotional words like “free” or “sale” cells in its preview and gave information that does not match with the app, then by acting on it, Google gave it its “promotion and recommendation on major Google Play surfaces” Will remove from The new guidelines will be launched from the second half of 2021.
