Apple wants to make profits in the Indian market with the help of its retail store in Mumbai. The company is targeting the offline market here.
Apple may open retail stores soon
Apple CEO Tim Cook confirmed last year that the company would open its first retail store in Mumbai in 2021. All the Indian customers were very excited after hearing this news. At the same time, many tech experts had said that after this move, Apple’s game in India will rise further. But in the meantime the epidemic returned once again, due to which Apple had to stop its plan. Apple confirmed this on Friday and said that the company is delaying its plans due to the Corona epidemic.
Due to this delay, Apple’s offline growth plan may suffer because after opening the store in Mumbai, the company will launch it in other cities as well. Apple’s first retail store has been confirmed to open at Maker Maxity Mall in Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), Mumbai. Reports from last year claimed that the Cupertino-based giant had leased over 20,000 square feet of space at BKC to open its first retail store in the country.
The store is said to have three floors in Mumbai and is said to be on par with the company’s flagship store in Hong Kong. Like other retail stores, Apple’s retail store in Mumbai will also have a dedicated experience center on a single floor. With the help of this floor, customers will be able to buy Apple products. The remaining two floors will be for retail and service.
Apple initially confirmed the plans for its retail store in India in October 2019. In February 2020, Tim Cook, while talking to investors, highlighted that having such retail stores in the Indian market could benefit the company immensely.
Counterpoint market research firm claimed in January this year that Apple shipped over 3.2 million iPhones in India last year. Earlier this year, a report citing Cybermedia Research said that Apple had shipped over one million iPhones in India in the first quarter of 2021.
