This report by Strategy Analytics shows that Apple accounted for a quarter of the worldwide 5G shipments in the third quarter of 2021. Apple sold the most 5G smartphones worldwide. On the Android operating system front, Apple has had a tough fight with Xiaomi, which launched a slew of devices under the Xiaomi, Redmi and Poco brands. However, the report suggests that due to increasing competition, Xiaomi’s year-on-year performance in the third quarter of 2021 has been affected.
Strategy Analytics says that Samsung has registered significant growth in Europe. Oppo has increased its hold in China. Samsung defeated Oppo to become the second leading 5G Android smartphone vendor globally after Xiaomi in the third quarter of 2021. The company introduced premium devices like Galaxy Z Flip 3, Galaxy S21 Ultra as well as some affordable phones in the A series.
In terms of growth, Honor was the brand that made the fastest quarter-on-quarter growth in 5G. According to the report, Honor’s most popular 5G enabled smartphones in the third quarter of 2021 were Honor 50 5G, Honor 50 SE and Honor 50 Pro 5G. This helped Honor a lot in increasing its popularity in China. Recently, the company has also launched Honor Play 30 Plus 5G smartphone in China. It comes with MediaTek’s Dimensity 700 processor and is equipped with 128GB internal storage.
The Honor Play 30 Plus 5G packs a 90Hz refresh rate display and a dual rear camera unit. The main camera is of 13 megapixels. The phone comes in four different color options and is equipped with a 5000mAh battery.
