Tech giant Apple is reportedly working on a new variant of the iPad mini, which will have a 120Hz promotion display instead of the existing 60Hz screen. According to Gizmochina, a few months ago, Apple launched its new iPad mini with an 8.3-inch display but soon after its release, some users started complaining about the jelly scrolling issue, which included scrolling on the right side of the screen. The part moves more quickly to the left in portrait mode.
In response, Apple stated that it is normal for LCD displays to refresh line-by-line, the report said. Now it seems that the tech giant is working on a new variant of the iPad mini 6 that might solve the jelly scrolling issue on the device. The report states that this is the same display that Apple has been using on the iPad Pro models since 2017 and this year’s iPhone 13 Pro models also come with the Promotion Display.
It comes with a changeable refresh rate where the content on the screen drops to 10Hz when the content on the screen does not require a high refresh rate. This means that the system automatically detects activities and what refresh rate to apply, thereby helping the device save battery life. If reports are to be believed, Apple is currently testing an 8.3-inch panel which is made by Samsung.
Apple bringing car crash detection tool to iPhone
Apple is reportedly working on a new iPhone and Apple Watch feature that detects if your car has been in an accident. If this happens, this tool automatically dials 911. According to The Wall Street Journal, the company plans to launch such a facility next year. Google’s personal security app on Pixel phones already includes the ability to call for help when it detects car accidents. Just like car service adds this feature to new vehicles, including GM’s OnStar, Subaru’s Starlink and Fiat Chrysler’s Uconnect.
