A group of university students in China has sued tech giant Apple for not including a charger with the iPhone 12 Pro Max. This information was given in media reports. Students claimed that the included USB-C to Lightning cable was not compatible with other chargers. According to the advertisement, a student was unable to charge the phone.
The students argued that Apple was simply using this as an excuse to promote MagSafe wireless chargers that waste more energy than their wired counterparts. They want the iPhone to supply the charger as well as pay 100 yuan ($16) for legal fees and breach of contract.
Apple reportedly told the Beijing Virtual Court that it is common practice for phone brands to sell power adapters separately and the government has approved the practice. However, students pointed out that many Chinese companies offer a choice of adapters in the box. For example, you can buy Xiaomi Mi 11 with or without a power brick.
The report said that the matter is still ongoing and there is no guarantee that it will compensate students or change Apple’s no-charger policy. Even if the case indicates a change, it could only be Apple offering the charger as an option for checkout.
Apple released iOS 14 update
Talking about the recent news related to Apple, with the iOS 14 update, users have been given more control over who can access their data. When it comes to purchases, the share of users paying on ecommerce apps among Apple customers in India is slightly higher than Android users in 2021. This was informed in a new report on Tuesday.
According to AppsFlyer, a mobile attribution and marketing analytics provider, it appears that rich users worried about data privacy in their digital lives may now be more comfortable making their first e-commerce purchase with Apple knowing that iOS Now gives more control to the customers.
