Airtel said that any feature phone users who upgrade their phones will choose Airtel because they provide world-class service to their users.
Jiophone Next And Airtel
Reliance Industries Limited has announced the JioPhone Next smartphone in its 44th Annual General Meeting held on June 24. The company has developed this phone in collaboration with Google and according to Mukesh Ambani it will be the most affordable smartphone in India. With the launch of this phone, Reliance aims to attract 2G feature phone users. In such a situation, it is being said that this plan of Reliance can have a big impact on Airtel and Vodafone Idea because the userbase of these two companies includes a large base of 2G users. Although Airtel does not think so. Bharti Airtel said in a statement to the media that JioPhone Next will not become a problem for them.
According to Airtel, people who upgrade from their feature phones or entry-level smartphones to the higher segment (7,000 or more) opt for the Airtel network. The company’s press release states that Airtel works on a similar plan in the long term and aims to provide “world-class” service to “quality customers”. This means that Jio may be trying to attract feature phone customers to its network by offering affordable smartphones, but if they choose a smartphone with a higher segment, then they will choose the Airtel network.
However whether JioPhone Next takes customers away from Airtel or not will be clear within a few quarters of the launch of the 4G smartphone. This handset is also important for Jio as it is now looking for the next phase of development. With 425 million users, Reliance Jio has become the largest telecom operator in India and the second largest in the world.
