The subscribers of both Jio and Airtel are doing well in terms of edition, which also means that the market share loss for Vodafone Idea may increase.
Jio Voda Idea
Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) ‘s March quarter results have been much better. At the same time, its net customers have also increased rapidly to 15.2 million (152 lakh). Which is the best performance in the last four quarters. Of course, net subscribers are still much below the average of about 25 million before the December 2019 tariff hike. Yet in the December, September and June quarter these increases are higher than the 5.2 million, 7.3 million and 10.8 million.
Analysts at Jefferies India Pvt Ltd said, “Even though there has been opposition to Jio during the Kisan agitation, the increasing number of its subscribers shows that the Kisan protests are no longer having the same impact as they were in December and January.” In the March quarter, Jio was able to overcome it in the last two quarters. An analyst at Ambit Capital Private Limited said, “There was a drop of about 15 million this quarter, which is probably a result of new plans launched for JioPhone. However, this definitely affects the quality of the subscriber base. “
Vodafone Idea may suffer losses
With Jio’s increasing number of subscribers in the March quarter, it will be interesting to see how Peers Bharti Airtel Ltd and Vodafone Idea Ltd perform when their March quarter numbers are announced. Recall that Jio’s net ad had outperformed those shares of Airtel in the last two quarters and it is expected to continue further.
The subscribers of both Jio and Airtel are doing well in terms of edition, which also means that the market share loss for Vodafone Idea may increase.
Jio will also launch budget smartphone
Apart from this, Jio is considering launching an affordable smartphone in the coming months and this is expected to support customers to some extent. Credit Suisse analysts said, “We believe that Bharti Airtel will also launch handsets in collaboration with handset OEMs and financing partners.” He said, “We believe that Airtel’s balance sheet confirms that it can also launch affordable smartphones (tie-ups).”
