Sriram, 34, earned a master’s in marketing and strategy from the Caledonian Business School United Kingdom after earning an engineering degree in electrical and electronics. His father Gopalakrishnan owned a factory for making photo processing and printing machines which he closed in 2007 due to poor health and poor business. Shriram’s father also had many photo labs, due to which Shriram was very fond of high-end camera since his college days, so after studying he thought of opening a high-end camera repair shop in Chennai.
Five years ago, when he was heading a successful IT company, his friend showed him a video on hydroponics on YouTube which he was very impressed with. Shri Ram believes that India has always been an agricultural country, where agriculture has special importance, but in the current situation, it has become very important to resort to this type of technology. Due to the increasing population and development of cities, cultivable land is shrinking. The system of water for irrigation facilities is also not complete.

Shriram Gopal says that he started testing the technique of growing soilless plants in the weekend on the rooftop of his father’s closed factory in Perungudi, in which his father also gave full support and because of those plants his father’s health Started to improve a lot.
He then decided that he would definitely do something big in this direction, for which he talked to foreign companies already working in the field of hydroponics and persuaded him that he would only give them knowledge of hydroponics related technology. De and he will represent their companies in India and also invest themselves. With technical support from foreign companies, he invested only five lakh rupees. Future farms opened a company called “Gradually” his efforts started paying off and in just 5 years the turnover of his company increased to 2 crores. Shri Ram said that his company is growing at a rate of 300 percent every year. The turnover of the company was Rs 38 lakhs in 2015-2016 which increased to 2 crores in 2016-17 and by the first quarter of this year the figure has reached 2 crores, which will reach 6 crores by the end of the year.
Today, more than 60 youth who have mastered various fields in this company are giving their valuable contribution. So far Shriram has invested around 2.5 crores in the company. The eleven people who have invested 10-15 lakh rupees in the company do not get any fixed salary but all these twelve people have a share in the company’s stock.
Giving more information about hydroponics, Shriram explains that this method can be grown in flat or home without soil plants and vegetables. Wood sawdust, sand or pebbles are added to the water and a special solution is added to provide essential nutrients for the plants and a thin drain or pumping machine is used to deliver oxygen to the plants. In this, about 90% less water is used than normal crops, pesticide is not used at all and production is also high. According to a report by Transparency Market Research, the global hydroponics business which was $ 6,934.6 million in 2016 is expected to grow to $ 12,106.5 million in 2025.
Today the company sells the hydroponics kit on the website, the price ranges from Rs 999 to Rs 69,999. Apart from that he also manufactures hydroponics setup as per requirement. The cost of constructing a 200 to 5000 square feet hydroponics farm is about 1 lakh to 10 lakh rupees.
Business started five years ago as Hobby has taken the form of a revolution today. Shriram’s initiative will prove to be very effective in tackling the country’s ever-decreasing natural resources.
