If you want to wear Italian shirts, Scottish watches and if you want to use an American laptop, then in the end you will crave for Indian food. Desi snacks and fast-food is an entire industry in itself, but no one was ready to break the regional barriers and serve the whole country by breaking these barriers. But this is the area which Venkatesh Iyer and Shivdas Menon chose for their entrepreneurship.
Venkatesh says about his idea that one day when I was returning from work, I saw a 40 feet big MacDonald’s banner outside the VT station. Under the banner was standing a barrow of Wada-Pav. I went to him and bought a vada-pav. Both Vada-Pav and Berger were together in many ways but one was a very big brand and one was struggling to establish its identity. This gave Venkatesh a chance to succeed in the business of vada-pav.
And then with this idea Bullet vada Was born Initially, we had to invest about 30 lakh rupees. It was named Goli because it had the Mumbai Touch giving it a local flavor. Goli’s first shop opened in Kalyan in 2004 and quickly became a success. People approached Venkatesh and Shivdas to open their franchise and within a short time fifteen more outlets opened.
“Vada-Pav is like Amitabh Bachchan who needs no publicity. It sells on its own. “
Vada-pav required neither plate nor spoon, this fast food became the favorite snack in Mumbai and did not require any publicity. But in the beginning this company suffered a lot of losses. The biggest problem of Vada-Pav was its ruin. If 3000 big-paws were made in one day and 2500 of them were sold, then about 500 big-paws would have been wasted, because the vadas could not run for more than a day and also the fear of stealing pav and big by the employees, the cook There were many problems like dependency, which the pill had to suffer and hence the business had to suffer a lot in the beginning.
Venkatesh and Shivdas approached Vista Food with the suggestion of a friend. It is an Indian company that works with a lot of foodchains. He liked the concept of Goli and offered a back-end partnership. Under this, Vada will be made from Vista Food and without any man’s help, this Vada will be passed through metal detectors and X-ray machines to reach a very high level of food customers.
The vada made from Vista Food has a shelf-life of about nine months. No Indian fast food business is standardized like this. After all this change, customer confidence increased day by day and Goli Bada-Pav was able to make a mark as a big brand and quick service restaurant.
“It is wonderful that Goli Vada-Pav never needed his publicity. This is the biggest strength of the product and customers say it and promote it on their own. ”
Impressed by the bullet, an industrialist from Chennai in 2011 has invested 21 crores. And gave Goli the opportunity to open many branches in every part of the country. Today Goli is spread across 100 cities in fifteen states of the country and has 300 outlets. It offers its customers a wide variety of flavors such as classic, samosa, sezwan, spinach and corn etc.
An idea that has resulted in his annual turnover from a single shop in Kalyan to be around 55 crores today. Both Venkatesh and Shivdas are working very hard for this and their goal is that their turnover should reach 200 crores in the coming time.
