Early life and Educational Qualifications
Jaya Kishori also fondly referred to as ‘Kishori Ji’, was born as Jaya Sharma on the 13th of July, 1995. She is the elder daughter of Shiv Shankar Sharma and Sonia Sharma. Jaya has a younger sister, Chetna Sharma. Jaya was born to and bought up in Rajasthan, and she obtained her school education from Birla Secondary High School. Later she finished her graduation with a B.Com degree.
Interest in Singing and Gravitation towards Spirituality:
Born in a brahmin family, Jaya was always fascinated by bhajans and other spiritual chants. From a young age, she was highly influenced by hearing different mythological stories from her grandparents. Shortly she started performing at different spiritual occasions like Satsang and was widely applauded by everyone.
Jaya was later discovered by Pt. Govindram Mishra who took her as a disciple. He also gave her the nickname ‘Radha’ after seeing her devotion towards Lord Krishna. This name later paved the path for her other popular name, ‘Meera of Modern Era’. She was also preached by Swami Ramsukhdas and Pt. Vinod Kumar Ji Sahal.
Jaya Kishori Music Albums:
So far Jaya Kishori has sung for more than 20 devotional albums. These include Shiv Stotra, Sunderkand, Mere Kanha Ki, Shyam Tharo Khatu Paryo, Laadu Ram Naam Ko Kha Le Re, Shyam Hi Hamaro Dhan, Tera Jatt Khadya Muskave, among others. These were well received by her followers.
Devotional Sessions:
Apart from her devotional albums and songs, she is also quite known for her multi-day spiritual talks and sessions. Jaya delivers a 7-days session called ‘Katha ShreeMad Bhagwat’ where through songs and motivational talks she talks about the Bhagwat Geeta. She also has a 3-day disclosure program called ‘Katha Nani Bai Ro Mayro’. So far she has delivered more than 350 of such sessions.
Jaya Kishori Personal Life and Marriage:
There are many speculations and rumours regarding her personal life and marital status. In an interview, Jaya Kishori said that she is not married yet but may consider getting married in the future. She said that she considers herself just like other girls her age and there is a possibility that she may tie the knot when the right time comes.
Charity and Social welfare:
Jaya Kishori is also a philanthropist at heart and is involved with quite a few charities and organizations. It is reported that all the proceedings from her devotional and spiritual sessions are directly donated to Narayan Seva Sansthan in Udaipur. The money is aimed to help people especially children suffering from physical and mental disabilities.
Recognition and Awards:
Jaya Kishori has received many accords and laurels for her work. She was presented with the Aadarsh Yuva Adhyatmik Guru Puroskar which was presented to her by Dr. Mohan Bhagwat. Jaya has also earned a mention in the Guinness Book of World Records concerning her spiritual session, Shreemad Bhagwat Katha.
