of Ghaziabad Prachi Bhatia She is one such personality who decided to leave her well-paying job and move ahead with passion and today she stands before us as a successful entrepreneur. The journey from getting just one order in 2018 to a turnover of Rs 14 lakh in 2020 amid the coronavirus pandemic is inspiring.
Prachi was always a promising girl. In the year 2017, she was also awarded by the Haryana Government for topping the graduating class for Product Design from GD Goenka School of Fashion and Design. After that, he got a job, but always had the idea of starting her own business in her mind. After a tussle between job and passion, Prachi finally decided to quit her job and embrace entrepreneurship. Seeing her leaving the job earning Rs 45,000 per month, her friends and family explained her a lot and advised her not to leave the job. However, when he expressed her desire to start her own venture, everyone supported her. The biggest challenge before Prachi to start a startup was the initial capital.
In the year 2018, Prachi started her own startup related to home decor and gift products from a small room in her parents’ house with an investment of Rs 1 lakh from her own savings. jamb laid the foundation of Also, she joined several jobs as a freelance graphic designer to manage her expenses.
In a conversation with Prachi revealed that Chokhat products are unique in themselves and inspired by the elements of nature like flowers, animals and birds. When she launched the brand’s website, she was sure that at least a few orders would be received. But they got only one order in the first month and two orders in the second. She was very disappointed by this but did not give up.
I was worried that I had made a bad decision and that I might not be as efficient in business as I thought I would, but I didn’t give up and used YouTube tutorials and articles to understand the marketing strategies that worked for my brand . It took about five months, then the business started booming.
Her hard work really paid off and in the year 2018 on the first Diwali, Chokhat has sold Rs. Despite the Corona epidemic, the company has done a total business of 14 lakhs. During the lockdown, when most people were using social media, Prachi promoted her products a lot through these websites. They benefited from this and the number of their orders kept on increasing.
Prachi has now rented an office and hired a team of interns, graphic designers, photographers and vendors to help with the creation and marketing of her products. Prachi, however, shared that she has experienced bias due to her gender, “On several occasions, the vendors have not followed the instructions and taken me a bit lightly as I am a woman. I think sometimes men don’t want to take instructions from a younger woman they find inexperienced. But I don’t think women should focus on this and keep fighting for their dreams and succeed.”
Talking about her plans for the future, Prachi shared that while home decor and gifting products are easy to ship and the foundation of her brand, she also wants to start selling furniture and kitchen products. She shares, “In 10 years I want Chokhat to have all the products I can use indoors, from furniture and curtains to kitchen appliances and plates.
Prachi’s success is inspiring in many ways. Many of us want to embrace self-employment but without the courage to take the risk, we would compromise on our passion. If passion is pursued with strong will, then nothing can stop you from being successful in this world.
