Even the most experienced businessmen are hesitant before investing too much or taking out a huge loan, especially for a failing business. However, when the 27-year-old Shrey Bansal As his family was struggling to make a living due to a failed business, this young boy from Siliguri decided to take some tough decisions and risky steps to cope with the situation. His belief in himself not only saved his ancestral business but also set a new dimension of success with a turnover of Rs 52 crores in just three years.
Shrey’s family originally hails from Nepal, however, they moved to Siliguri in West Bengal in 1989 in search of a better life. However, not much has changed with the change in location. Shrey’s grandfather sold a number of items, one of which was black cardamom, and after that, Shrey’s father also went a step ahead in the business, importing cardamom from Nepal and then collaborating with some Delhi-based traders. Used to sell. He named his business Bansal Big Black Cardamom.
Since Shrey was not interested in or knowledgeable about this family business, he decided to look for other avenues. After completing his schooling, Shrey moved to Bangalore to pursue BBM (Bachelor of Business Management) at Christ University. However, he and his family’s financial condition was not very good so he had to drop out of college. Then he started a small cafe in Bangalore in 2014 to earn some extra money, but that too was unsuccessful. Due to his interest in acting, he also auditioned for several acting roles, but due to financial constraints, he could not proceed.
Frustrated with the situation, Shrey returned to Siliguri in 2017 and decided to embrace his family business. But the business conditions were not right, somehow some money was being earned to run the house.
Business Khabar In a conversation with Shreyas, he didn’t care much about what was happening around him when he was young, but when he returned to Siliguri in 2017, his only intention was to rewrite his family’s fortunes, and So he took up the task of taking the business forward.
Shrey started research on how he could take the family business to the next level. They found that cardamom is practically used in the preparation of most spices that people buy in sealed containers. Whereas his family used to sell cardamom only to local traders, who bought only a little. Shrey established contacts with companies that made ready-made spices. He made a huge profit selling cardamom in large quantities by partnering with these companies. Though they had to face a lot of difficulties in persuading these companies, Shrey promised to give them the most premium products.
He proudly shares, “I assured him that my cardamom is of high quality. Quality is the sole motto of my business. I guess this is the reason why I have been able to connect with almost all the spice companies in India you can name.
He was so determined about success that he even took a huge loan of Rs 5 crore from many relatives. He worked hard while fulfilling his goal and today has done a business of Rs 52 crores by signing with 18 major spice makers of the country.
However it was not as easy as it appears. He admits that there were many people who wanted to see him fail, especially those who rejoiced when the business failed. Be it his competitors or the confiscation of his produce by the authorities without any valid reason, Shrey had to overcome many hurdles.
“Now that I have succeeded, these people have started respecting me,” he says.
Shrey believes that if one stands with patience, hard work and faith, he will reach the greatest heights. His story is really full of inspiration. He has proved that if the goal is pursued with strong willpower and the passion to do something, then success is definitely achieved. Innovation is the key to success in business.
