There have been many prestigious businessmen in our country, but on the day we get a chance to meet many new talented entrepreneurs. Have you ever wondered what is the basic difference between a businessman and an entrepreneur?
The fundamental disagreement between a businessman and an entrepreneur is about solving a problem. Businessmen are more interested in making money, while entrepreneurs are more inclined to solve a problem. And when we talk about solving a problem, the biggest problems for humanity at the present time are environmental challenges. Pune-based e-bike company ‘Emotad’ has pledged to solve this challenge.
Under the leadership of Kunal Gupta, today the company is working towards a futuristic approach to reduce environmental pollution with its unique range of e-bikes.
When Kunal was studying for his Masters, he realized the lack of affordable availability of public vehicles in the city of Pune. And this is where his entrepreneurial journey began. Kunal and his two friends started renting motorbikes to their fellow students and made good profits. To complete his studies, he laid the foundation of his dream under the banner of ONN Bike.
After a difficult but successful journey of four years, Kunal decided to give up the ONN bike in the year 2020 – with the intention of doing something new and challenging. However, his tenure with ONN was really successful – ONN did really well and also earned investments over several rounds.

In the year 2020, Kunal joined hands with Rajiv Gangopadhyay, the founder of EMOTAD. Rajiv has the first Indian HSN code required for an e-bike – making him on the list of the leading e-bike manufacturers in India. Under his leadership, the company produced 34 possible models of e-bikes and discussed with experts in this field and launched the five best models in the market.
“The trend of e-bikes started in Europe years ago and many European countries also pay their citizens to use e-bikes – which is reverse taxation to power the change”, Rajiv pointed out.
Currently, EMOTRAD is offering five different models starting from the entry-level e-bike to the premium e-bike and the Goods delivery e-bike. All bikes are made of high quality materials and offer a hybrid experience with three operating modes. There is also a pedal mode bike model that gives the option of using it as a bicycle.
All bikes have a battery (with charging indicator) that takes 2.5 to 4 hours to fully charge. The bike can travel up to 60 km at a time and comes with a three-year warranty. It is available in the market at a price tag of 35 to 70 thousand.
“The COVID-19 epidemic worried us as we were planning high sales during Diwali. But we really got good response from the people, we sold 1200 bikes in about 45 days, ”Kunal told in a conversation with Kenfolioz.
EMOTORED e-bike is a smart multipurpose solution to combat the global environmental crisis which is nothing short of an epidemic in itself. Emotored bikes are limited to speeds of 25 km / h to conform to Indian laws, although the company is in talks with authorities to implement the laws and guidelines of the e-bike revolution in India.
