Let us tell you what happened that the farmers of Alwar in Karnataka have become millionaires by selling onions!
Sowing of onion cultivation (Agriculture Success Story)
Seeds are sown in raised beds! The width of the beds is 1 to 1.25 meters and the length is convenient. Well, 3 to 5 meter long beds are convenient! 70 beds (1.0 X 5.0 m size) is sufficient for planting one hectare! To prevent diseases, seeds and nursery soil should be treated with fungicidal thiram or captan etc. 2 to 3 grams of medicine per kilogram is sufficient for seeds!
It is necessary to have 4 to 5 grams of medicine per square meter of land to do soil treatment! Planting soil 15 to 20 days before sowing and covering it with white polythene solarization ‘or treated with Trichoderma viridi fungus before sowing also reduces humidity. Seeds should be sown in rows at a distance of 4 to 5 cm! After sowing the seeds up to half a centimetre, the seeds are completely covered with rotten and sieved cow dung or soil!
Keep these things in mind in farming
The onion plant needs only 6 to 8 times water in the entire period! The quantity of fertilizer should also be given per hectare – 75 kg, Sphur – 60 kg and potash 100 kg. Separation should also be minimized as the planting of plants is done close by. Therefore, there is a risk of breaking the plants if the seedling is more tender. The crop is fully ripened in 4 to 5 months! Only after which it should be excavated!
Irrigation and drainage
In Kharif season crop, irrigation should be done immediately after planting! Otherwise, delay in irrigation increases the chances of the plant dying! The onion crop is grown in the Kharif season when the monsoon goes away! At that time irrigation should be done as per the need. This is taken care of! That there should be no shortage of water at the time of the creation of Shulkand because it is the critical stage of onion crop!
Because at this stage there is a huge reduction in yield due to lack of water! Whereas a lot of water invites purple spot (Purple Blach) disease! The field should not be kept dry for a long time, otherwise the flake bursts! And the harvest will come soon, as a result, the output will be less! Therefore, light irrigation should be done at intervals of 8-10 days as required. If the water stops in the field due to excess rain or other reasons, then it should be arranged to get it out soon! Otherwise, there is an increased possibility of mildew disease occurring in the crop.
