The cost of sandalwood cultivation, which started with an investment of Rs 9.5 lakh, has reached about Rs 15 crore today after 15 years. Meaning Alpesh Patel got the benefit of up to 150 times from sandalwood cultivation. In some states including Gujarat, farmers do not have to bother to sell their sandalwood crop, because the state government has taken the responsibility to sell and export it.
