“After delivering food, clothes, books, toys etc. to the destitute people, many people said that we have come as messiahs for them. After getting help, the smile on people’s faces is very relaxed. Today thousands of people of Indore have become our family. There is nothing more for us than this. ”These words belong to 20-year-old Yash Gupta.

But he joined the family business and through ‘Daan Patra’, accelerated the work of helping people. He had a difficult start, but soon everything went well.
Where did it come from Idea?
Yash, one of the founding members of ‘Dan Patra’, says that his brother Vineet was married on 24 February 2018. A large number of people attended this wedding. Despite this, a large amount of food survived. Nobody could understand what to do with this meal. Then the idea came in the mind of his family members that it should be distributed among the destitute and hungry people of the city. After the success in this work, the family members decided that why not make such an app, with the help of which people can get the things they need.
How does it work ‘Donation box’
Yash says that in the beginning this app was made for delivering food only. Later, along with food, work was done to provide clothes, grains, toys etc. to the needy. Today, it has become very easy to reach people with its help. With the help of this, teams of hundreds of youth collect materials from the houses which are not needed. Next, it delivers free of cost to those households which need it.
More than 50 thousand city dwellers have been connected with this ‘Daan Patra’ app in a year and so far, help has been provided to about 3 lakh destitute people. The special thing is that all types of people, businessmen, students and professionals are connected with ‘Dan Patra’ and are helping the poor to bring a smile on their face.
How does help reach people?
Yash says that ‘Daan Patra’ is present on Google Play Store. It can be downloaded from there. People who donate goods can access information with the help of the app. As soon as the information is received, the people concerned become active and in 7 to 21 days they reach the spot to pick up the goods. To confirm who has donated the material, photos and videos are captured in the camera. In this way the donation box has become another name for helping the needy in Indore.
