FOXBORO — Patriots rookie wideout Tyquan Thornton is the quickest participant on the roster. That goes for working velocity and restoration time.
Thornton returned to the sector Sunday lower than two months after breaking his collarbone in an August preseason recreation. He caught two passes for seven yards, each second-most amongst huge receivers. When Lions defensive finish Aidan Hutchinson slung him down on the finish of his first catch, a 2-yard display, it marked the primary time Thornton had been hit for the reason that harm.
But, he received up rapidly.
“It was definitely like an ‘I’m cool’ moment,” Thornton mentioned. “The first time really getting brought down to the ground since the injury, so it was kind of motivating.”
As his restoration grew nearer to Week 5, the primary time Thornton was eligible to be activated off injured reserve, his spirits picked up, in response to teammates. He practiced Wednesday in a non-contact jersey, then shed it Thursday and rotated with the staff’s different prime wideouts Sunday. Thornton figures to be a fixture in that rotation shifting ahead.
On Sunday, veteran wideout Nelson Agholor was sidelined by a brand new hamstring harm, and DeVante Parker went catchless. In Thornton’s absence, each went for 100-yard video games in Weeks 2 and three. Jakobi Meyers took his flip with a 100-yard efficiency Sunday. Perhaps the child can be subsequent.
“Watching my guys go out there and fight their hearts out, that motivated me,” Thornton mentioned. “It was a day-by-day thing because one thing about the process: you can’t cheat it. So you’ve gotta go in day in and day out, and put your best foot forward and get better.”
