Virat Kohli resigned from the captaincy of the Test team after the Indian team’s defeat in the three-match series (IND vs SA Test Series, 2021-2022), which went to play a bilateral series on the tour of South Africa. Now the big question in front of the Indian team management is that who should be given the command of the captaincy of the Test team. Former India opener Gautam Gambhir believes that Rohit Sharma will be the best option for the captaincy of the Test team. He said that the captaincy of the team of all three formats should be given to Rohit Sharma.
Gautam Gambhir said in a statement, “I believe that Rohit Sharma should be given the responsibility of captain and KL Rahul as vice-captain for all formats of teams. With this, the captain will be able to maintain the style and consistency of the Indian team in teams of all formats. Especially, in view of the fact that the ICC T20 World Cup is due later this year.
Significantly, Indian cricket is going through a phase of major change. Former cricket players, cricket pundits and cricket lovers are discussing this matter as to who should be made the captain of Team India.

The name of Jasprit Bumrah is also being seen as an option as the next captain of the Indian team. Gautam Gambhir further said in his statement, “Virat Kohli has made a great contribution to Indian cricket. But, now he has resigned. The news of Kohli’s resignation since the last Test series (SA vs IND Test Series, 2021-2022) has been caught in the media. I believe it is a personal decision of an individual. I think Virat Kohli might have left the captaincy of the Indian Test team for some reason.
But, I cannot speak about the ODI series. In Test matches (SA vs IND Test Series, 2021-2022), our c bowlers showed that they can break the morale of the opposition team. They have proven time and again that they act as the engine of the team’s performance. I want to see a strong middle order in ODI cricket, which Virat Kohli failed to build.
