Paarl (South Africa): Standing captain KL Rahul on Tuesday said India achieved some spectacular successes under Virat Kohli and set new benchmarks for all during his seven-year tenure. In Rohit Sharma’s absence, Rahul will lead the side in the three-match ODI series against South Africa starting on Wednesday.
He said in a virtual press conference on the eve of the first ODI, “The Indian team under Virat’s leadership achieved some great successes. We won series outside India like never before. “We went to every country and we won the series, so we did a lot of good things and that has already set the standard for all of us and for the Indian team,” Rahul said. Kohli had announced his relinquishment as the Test captain last Saturday, a day after losing the Test series to South Africa.
