port of Spain: Earthquake tremors were felt during the ICC Under-19 World Cup match between Ireland and Zimbabwe, the impact of which was clearly visible on the ‘visuals being broadcast’. The players, however, did not realize this and continued to play but the commentators in the commentary box felt tremors. The magnitude of the earthquake was measured at 5.2 on the Richter scale.
Commentator Andrew Leonard described the aftershocks, saying that the commentary box was beginning to vibrate. He said, “I feel an earthquake is coming right now. There is really an earthquake. It felt like not only was a train going past us, but the entire Queens Park Oval Media Center shook.” The tremors of the earthquake were felt for 15 to 20 seconds.
