The market capitalization of companies listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) reached an all-time record high on Tuesday. On Tuesday, January 12, the market capitalization of these companies reached 197.46 lakh crore. All these companies have a market cap of Rs 1,97,46,939.57 crore ($ 2.6 trillion) when the market closes. The 30-share BSE Sensex rose by 247.79 points to close at 49,517.11 on Tuesday.
According to Binod Modi, Head (Securities), Reliance Securities, the market has created an atmosphere of rapid growth due to the continuous steps taken by the government to promote economic activities. According to Modi, there will be an environment of boom in the market even further.
SBI was the top gainer
Talking about frontline companies, SBI was the top gainer in Tuesday’s business. SBI shares rose 3.65 per cent. In addition to SBI, Bharti Airtel, Reliance Industries and HDFC Bank were the biggest gainers on BSE in Tuesday’s business. Talking about sector-wise, BSE Telecom, Realty, Energy, Oil & Gas, Utilities, Auto and Finance Indices also recorded gains of 2.85%. BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices gained 0.44 percent.
BSE and Nifty at record highs
In addition to the Sensex on Tuesday, the Nifty also reached a record high. The Nifty closed at 14,563.45 with a gain of 78.70 points. All other sectoral indices, except FMCG, IT and pharma stocks, closed in the green mark on the Nifty. Realty shares saw the maximum increase of 2.76 percent. Tata Motors, GAIL, Bharti Airtel, SBI and Coal India were the top gainers and Asian Paint, Titan, Nestle India, Hindustan Unilever and Sun Pharma were the top losers on the Nifty.
