Government kept support price of Rs 5050
According to the data of Directorate of Mustard Research, Uttar Pradesh was the first place in mustard production 25 years ago, but due to the introduction of new varieties of wheat, the area of wheat increased. In the year 1981-82, the area under mustard was 22.76 lakh hectare, which was 50 percent of the area under mustard cultivation of the whole country, but after that the area under mustard continued to decline. Actually, there were many reasons behind the decline in mustard production. One, the way the MSP of wheat has increased, in the same way that of mustard has not increased. Now when the government has paid attention to this to increase the income of the farmers, then the MSP has increased. The government has kept a support price of Rs 5050. Taking cognizance of this, the Chief Minister launched a campaign to encourage farmers to promote mustard cultivation. The effect of which is now visible in every district of the state. Talking about mustard cultivation and production in Lucknow, oilseeds have been cultivated in nine thousand hectares. This time it has increased to 15000 hectares. In about 100 days, the crop will be ready and will come to the market.
