Jaisalmer, Every year 15 January is celebrated as Army Day in India. The national flag ‘Tiranga’ made of ‘Khadi’ is displayed on the India-Pakistan border in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan on the occasion of Army Day. This tricolor is 225 feet long and 150 feet wide and weighs 1400 kg.

This tricolor was displayed in Longewala. Which was the main center of the historic war between India and Pakistan in 1971. It took 49 days for 70 Khadi artisans to prepare the flag of 1400 kg. In making the flag, 4500 meters of hand-cut and hand-woven khadi cotton flagpole has been used. It which covers a total area of 33,750 square feet. The diameter of the Ashoka Chakra in the flag is 30 feet.

Let us tell you that this is the 5th flag made from Khadi for public display. Earlier on 2 October 2021, the first tricolor was unveiled in Leh. The second tricolor was displayed at Hindon airbase on 8 October 2021 on the occasion of Air Force Day. After this, the third tricolor was hoisted at the Red Fort on 21 October 2021 and the fourth on Navy Day on 4 December 2021 at the Naval Dockyard near the Gateway of India in Mumbai.
