GitHub and the latest controversy
The GitHub platform has rules against harassment, discrimination and incitement to violence.
It has also removed the account hosting both Bulli Bai and Sully Deals apps from its platform. However it is worth noting that the GitHub platform is not meant for mass distribution of an app. The app on GitHub cannot be called a fully-fledged app. Also, unlike social media platforms, there is no algorithm for sorting such apps on GitHub.
However, under Indian IT laws, there can be strict punishment for making such apps. Apps like Bulli Bai comes under the purview of the law for spreading religious hysteria, committing criminal acts etc. It comes under IT Act and Criminal Law Act 2013. In such cases, apart from sections 66C, 66E, 67, 67A of the IT Act, the guilty can be jailed under all sections of the IPC.
