West Bengal Elections 2021 latest update: The voting for the fourth phase of West Bengal assembly elections is going on on Saturday. Voting started at 7 am, 16.65 percent voting has been done till 11 am. In the meantime, four people have died in the firing caused by an attack by local people by CISF personnel. Police said that people tried to snatch his rifle in Cooch Behar district on Saturday. A senior police officer said that the incident took place in Sitalkuchi area, where voting was going on.
The fate of 373 candidates in 44 Vidhan Sabha decided.
A total of 1,15,81,022 voters comprising 58,82,514 males, 56,98,218 females and 290 members of third gender in the voting released on Saturday will decide the fate of 373 candidates in 44 Vidhan Sabha. These assemblies are in Howrah (Part 2) of South Bengal, South 24 Parganas (Part 3), Hooghly (Part 2) and Alipurduar and Cooch Behar in North Bengal.
The electoral fate of the main candidates will be decided, including Union Minister Babul Supriyo, West Bengal Minister Parth Chatterjee, Arup Biswas and former cricketer-turned-politician Manoj Tiwari. Polling is going on for all the nine seats in Howrah, 11 in South 24 Parganas, five in Alipurduar, nine in Cooch Behar and 10 in Hooghly.

80 percent voting in three phases
Despite incidents of violence, West Bengal has recorded 80 percent or more of the three phases so far. In the first phase, 84.3 percent polling was held in 30 assembly constituencies. On April 1, 80.43 percent voting was held in the second phase. In the third phase, with the recurrence of incidents of violence, the state recorded 77.68 percent voting till 5 pm on 5 April.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in Silguri that Didi, it will not protect you to incite people to attack security forces, obstruct the voting process. This violence cannot save us from 10 years of bad governance.
