Modi at Davos Summit: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is addressing the Virtual Davos Summit of the World Economic Forum on Thursday. He praised India’s work in the fight against the coronavirus. Modi said that he has brought a message of confidence, positivity and hope to the world on behalf of 1.3 billion Indians. Modi said that in just 12 days, India has vaccinated over 2.3 million health workers. In the next few months, the target of vaccinating 300 million old people and people with comorbidity will be achieved.
Important medicines delivered in more than 150 countries: Modi
Modi further said that right now we have two vaccines made in India. The World Economic Forum will be relieved to know that more vaccines will come from India in the coming times. He said that in this difficult time, India is fulfilling its global responsibility from the beginning. When airspace was closed in many countries, India transported more than 1 lakh citizens to their countries and delivered essential medicines in more than 150 countries.
The Prime Minister said that India is saving people’s lives by sending the COVID vaccine to many other countries of the world and developing the infrastructure needed for vaccination. Now India is starting the work of giving unique health ID to its 1.3 billion citizens for easy access to health care. Modi said that our self-reliant India campaign is committed towards global well-being and global supply chain. India has the capability, capability and credibility to strengthen the global supply chain.
Tax system simplified: Modi
Modi further said that some points in company law have been de-legalized. To increase competition, connectivity infrastructure is being strengthened. During the epidemic, we saw that Indian companies were able to withstand the shortage in supply. He retained the medical supply chain in India and all over the world. The government has taken several big steps to promote manufacturing in India. Corporate tax has been reduced to 15 percent for new manufacturing units. GST rates have been reduced. The tax structure has been simplified through GST and faceless assessment.
Modi said that India has launched the self-reliant India campaign with a resolve to increase the capacity of our economy. India has reformed the economy one after the other for greater growth in this decade. These reforms were long-awaited.
