Weather Update: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast severe heatwave conditions over Saurashtra, Kutch, Konkan and West Rajasthan for the past few days. The Meteorological Department has predicted severe heat in West Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, East Rajasthan and Odisha. With the beginning of March, the heat of summer has started increasing in many states of the country.
According to IMD, heat will show its peak in most parts of the country for the next few days. After winter, many parts of the country are witnessing record temperature and many states are also likely to experience heat wave in the coming days. The temperature has been increasing continuously for the last few days and people have started feeling the heat.
IMD Forecast
Delhi and Mumbai recorded unusually high temperatures in the month of March itself, where the mercury reached a record high. The maximum temperature was recorded in the national capital Delhi. According to the Meteorological Department, eight degrees above normal temperature was recorded in Mumbai. The department has issued a warning of severe heat in Mumbai.

No significant change in maximum temperatures predicted over Konkan and Gujarat during next two days. There is a possibility of heavy rain over Andaman and Nicobar Islands during March 15-19. Whereas on 18th and 19th March there will be thunderstorm/lightning rain at isolated places and on 19th March there is a possibility of scattered rain in this area.
Strong winds (speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph) very likely over South Andaman Sea on March 19. During March 15-17, there is a possibility of severe heatwave in some parts of West Rajasthan. On March 18, 2022, heat and heat wave conditions will continue over different parts of the region.
On March 15, there is a possibility of severe heat wave in different parts of Konkan and Saurashtra-Kutch. Heat wave conditions will also be seen in different areas in this region on March 16. Heat wave conditions are very likely to prevail over Gujarat region, West Madhya Pradesh during March 15-17, East Rajasthan on March 16-17 and Odisha during March 16-18.
The IMD said that the maximum temperature is likely to increase by 2-3 degrees Celsius over many parts of Northwest India and West Madhya Pradesh during the next 2 days and there will be no significant change thereafter.
No significant change in maximum temperature is likely over Maharashtra during next 2 days followed by an increase of 2-3 degree Celsius. A gradual increase in maximum temperatures by 2-3 degree Celsius is very likely to occur over most parts of East and Northeast India during 3 days and there will be no significant change thereafter.
According to IMD, after Holi, there is going to be a strong heat in different areas of Delhi, Mumbai, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Konkangova, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Telangana and Tamil Nadu. The temperature in these states can exceed 38 degrees.
During the next 5 days, the weather is likely to remain dry over most parts of the country, except for isolated rains over Kerala and Mahe. Rain is likely over South Karnataka during March 17-19, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal on March 18-19.
According to the IMD, the wind speed will be high in the capital Delhi on March 15 and 16, so the maximum temperature cannot increase further. But the weather will remain warm above average. According to IMD, till March 18, the maximum temperature will increase.
According to the Meteorological Department, the temperature of the weather is going to increase further in the coming days and after Holi, people will have to face the heat and strong winds. In the coming days, the heat will increase rapidly and at the same time there is a possibility of heat wave in some states.
