IMD Weather Forecast: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) in an official statement has issued heavy rain alert for Tamil Nadu coast, Karaikal and Puducherry. The IMD has said that due to the formation of a low pressure area in the South Bay of Bengal, torrential rains are expected in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal for the next three days from today i.e. Thursday. The area of low pressure is also likely to turn into an area of deep pressure.
A bulletin issued by the Meteorological Department said that the low pressure area over central parts of south Bay of Bengal and adjoining equatorial Indian Ocean is very likely to intensify into a deep depression by Thursday. IMD said it is very likely to move west-northwards towards Sri Lanka coast during next 24 hours and towards Tamil Nadu during subsequent 24 hours.

– IMD has warned of strong winds (45-55 km/h gusting to about 65 km/h) in the Gulf of Mannar on Thursday along and off southwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal and Tamil Nadu-south Andhra Pradesh coasts. ) is warned to run.
According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of stormy weather (45-55 km/h to 65 km/h) over west-central and adjoining southwest Bay and north Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh coasts on Friday and Saturday. Whereas on Sunday, wind speed gusting to 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 km/h is likely over North Tamil Nadu-South Andhra Pradesh coasts.
Heavy rain has been predicted at isolated places over Coastal Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal on Thursday and Friday. The Meteorological Department said that there is a possibility of heavy rain in some areas in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal on Saturday.
The Meteorological Department has also issued a warning of strong winds and asked fishermen not to venture into the sea in the South Bay of Bengal and adjoining Indian Ocean, Gulf of Mannar and Comorin areas till March 5.
The IMD said that during the next 24 hours, widespread rain and snow with thunder and lightning are very likely to occur over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad and at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
It has also been mentioned in the official statement that there is a possibility of rain in the western Himalayan region and adjoining plains today. Apart from this, one more fresh rain may occur during March 6 to 8 and there is a possibility of heavy rains in Jammu and Kashmir on March 6.
During the next 24 hours, isolated light rain is likely over Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh and West Uttar Pradesh. According to an official statement, strong winds (speed reaching 25-35 kmph) are very likely to prevail over most parts of plains of Northwest India on March 04 over Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi and Rajasthan.
