Hospitals in Damascus Full With COVID Patients: In the Syrian capital of Damascus, ICUs of all government hospitals are filled with patients. There has been a rapid boom in new cases of Coronavirus here. Trouble has increased so much that now patients are being shifted to hospitals in other provinces. This information has been given by the country’s Health Ministry (Syria Coronavirus Update). Here people are not able to get complete information about the epidemic because this country has been facing conflict for almost a decade. Which has had the greatest impact on the medical field.
Cases of sudden infection have increased in Syria in the last few weeks. President Bashar Al Assad and his wife Asma were also under the grip of infection, both of whom have recovered recently. There were 149 new cases on Thursday, after which the total number of cases has reached 16,925 (Syria Coronavirus Statistics). The first case was reported here in March last year, after which 1,130 patients have died so far. It is believed that this number is more than what is being told.
80 percent people are below poverty line
Many people of the country are not able to get PCR test. The economic crisis has increased considerably and more than 80 percent of the population is living below the poverty line due to the war. The cost of a test in any private hospital or clinic is up to $ 28 i.e. about two thousand rupees (Syria Coronavirus Cases Today). That too when the monthly income of the people is less than 100 dollars. Taufiq Hasaba, head of the emergency department in the Health Ministry, said that the ICUs of four government hospitals in Damasakas have been filled and those who are in need of ICUs are being shifted to hospitals in other provinces.
Appeal to people to adopt measures
Hasaba has asked people to follow all methods of rescue. Apply mask, follow social distancing and use sanitization. Virus cases are also increasing again in other countries of the world, where testing is being done and vaccination campaign has also started (Syria Coronavirus Latest). In such a situation, it is more difficult for a country like Syria to fight the epidemic than other countries. The vaccination campaign started here earlier this month, but no information has been revealed about how the program is going.
