Renewal of registration of 15-year-old vehicles in the country from April 1, 2022 will be costly. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways had issued a notification in October 2021, according to which, from April 1, 2022, renewing the registration of 15-year-old vehicles across the country will become 8 times more expensive. The Central Motor Vehicles Rules (23rd Amendment) 2021 has been named.
Registration of old vehicles will be expensive
This rule will come into effect from April 1, 2022. According to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, this rule will be applicable to vehicles older than 15 years. In which the registration of two wheeler, four wheeler and commercial vehicles will have to pay a higher fee than before. According to the new rules of the Ministry of Transport, earlier this fee was Rs 600. Similarly, for renewing the registration of an old two wheeler, Rs 1000 will have to be paid. Earlier this amount was Rs 300. Also, to renew the registration of a 15-year-old bus or truck, Rs 12,500 has to be paid, which was Rs 1,500 till now. Also, small passengers will have to pay Rs 10,000 for registration of motor vehicle. Earlier this fee was Rs 1,300.
40 thousand rupees will have to be given to renew the registration of imported car
Rs 40,000 and Rs 10,000 will have to be paid for renewing the registration of imported cars and bikes. Also, if the fitness certificate of your vehicle has expired and you are late in renewing it, a certain penalty will be levied every month, doubts are being raised whether it will be successful or not. However, from April 1, the price hike will be higher. There is an opinion that if the old vehicles are eliminated and new technology vehicles are introduced on the roads, the pollution will be reduced. Since rising pollution is a global concern, there is a feeling that the central government should come up with a new policy for scrapping old vehicles if the problem is not resolved despite huge increase in duty.
