Ambernath: An NGO named Vanshakti has been fighting a legal battle for the last 8 years for the promotion of the once holy and present-day polluted Waldhuni River flowing through Ambernath, Ulhasnagar and Kalyan. And this NGO has reached from administration to NGT, High Court and Supreme Court regarding serious issue like pollution of river and bringing it to the notice of the concerned Municipality, Municipal Corporation and MIDC. Vanshakti has even got him punished.
While some areas of Ambernath Municipality, Ulhasnagar and KDMC Municipal Corporation discharge sewage water into the Waldhuni river without treatment, the chemical-laden water being released by MIDC has also become a cause of polluting the river and is largely in the river vessel. Due to the unauthorized construction and those constructions, the danger of floods in monsoon also remains for the locals. To know the same reasons and to present the facts before the government and the court, the Waldhuni river tour of Ambernath, Ulhasnagar and Kalyan was done on Tuesday.
